I’m toying with yet another idea, still relating to my house as I have quite a love or fascination with it. The idea is to paint pictures of various rooms within my house, in a similar style to that of Van Gogh’s painting Bedroom in Arles. A print of this painting hangs in the hallway of my house and usually goes unnoticed by me as I pass it, frequently in a hurry to get out the door or enter through it. Although I like the painting, and many other works by Van Gogh, I wonder what it would take to notice this painting more. Perhaps recolouring it could help bring attention back to it, at least for a while.
It brings about another half-thought idea, to paint pictures of various rooms and still life set-ups within my house, but to perhaps place the completed works in different locations to that of the subject. For example – a painting of the bathroom could be hung in the kitchen and photographed.
